Interesting suggestion.
However, how com e the problem only seems to occur for messages read in the
Outlook client?
I would have thought if the rreelists listserver identified the message
incorrectly as spam then this would affect other clients.

Receiving you loud and clear! There should only be one rogue character there.
Just one hit on the backspace key should be enough.
Multiple presses are fine but I wouldn’t like you to feel that this technique
becomes a big nuisance to carry out over time.
This problem seems to apply to responses to particular messages coming through
Freelists.org that we have not been able to identify yet. The rogue character
makes the text that follows it look like a broken heading that Freelists
eliminates as possible spam.
I can circulate the discussion with a Freelists technician if members are
interested in seeing it.

Long time no hear!
I hope you are keeping well.
Sadly, your message appears blank here.
We recently found that regular blank responses to the list carried a mysterious
control I type character and when this was removed the messages come through
intact.
Our work-around is to press the backspace key in the editing area before
commencing to type a reply. This successfully removed any unprintable character
lurking in the editing area.
Could this be what has happened here?
