This is a problem between Microsoft and Freelists and perhaps other older listservers. No one party accepts that it's its responsibility to fix it. I think that it may be an incompatibility between Outlook and Rich Text Format (RTF) or a Unicode utf 8 issue, which used to crop up from time to time when I was using Outlook Express.
