Hi Eleanor,

Having your own domain is like having your own personalised space on The
Internet. For example, you could have an Email address of
Eleanor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or something like that. Note that the domain
must be available for you to have it, but there are plenty of places you can
check.

Then it doesn't matter which ISP you are with, you could carry your
eleanorburke domain with you. You don't have to have a web site to own your
own domain, but you can. For example, my web site is
http://www.comproom.co.uk, and my Email address is steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hence, comproom.co.uk is my domain. You can have .co.uk, .com, .biz.
.me.uk, .org.uk, .net and all kinds of other types of domains.

I hope this helps.

All the best

Steve

I don't know what Option 3 is, now isn't that dreadful and me paying to
them!!!

Incidentally I presume when you talk about having your own domain Steve, you

mean that you have your own website also? So someone like me who does not,
then that is of no value.

Eleanor
