As far as I know, the concept of iBeacons was originally intended for IOS. Microsoft might well be the first to demonstrate an early prototype of how these beacons might be used for our purposes but work is ongoing elsewhere to develop uses for this technology, primarily for push advertisements as you pass by shops or stalls.
