Probably not. (smile). The couple who run it come from Devon, least Ken does.

You could book directly through the hotel, or, as we did, through a really good company called McKinlay Kidd who run a good website called See Scotland Differently
www.seescotlanddifferently.co.uk

The reason why I went through the company was that they were just so brilliant. They rang the hotel to see if we'd got there ok, and rang us when we got home to ask if we were happy with everything. Also, on the Jacobite Steam Railway, they allocated us our own compartment in standard class because I've got this big issue about not travelling first class and the excursion included first class tickets. So as a compromise, they let us have our own compartment for the price of the tickets, but the train was so busy that we let people come in and sit down. Why not? It was fab. There were two kids with their father all getting excited about the new Harry Potter book, and jumping about with their cameras. I sat on the edge of the table and stuck my head as far out of the window as I dared so I could listen to the steam, while Ian did likewise with his microphone to record it. Young Ian, being completely fed up by this time, stuck his Ipod on (smile). I'd thoroughly recommend that excursion to anyone. I was the biggest child on that train!!

| Hi Andy and all
|
| The hotel is called Old Pines, and it resides in the beautiful village of
| Spean Bridge. Blimey, I'm beginning to sound like something out of the
| Scottish Tourist Board, and I don't even come from these parts (smile).
| Yes, they can organise excursions for you. There are lots of walks, and
the
| Nevis Range is not too far away. We went there this year, and went for a | ride up in one of the gondolas. That, I must say, was hilarious. It was | probably the only place, about 2,500 feet up, that we could all get mobile | phone signals. My husband was desperate to explore the gondola as we were
| travelling up, but I made him sit down. My son, on the other hand,
couldn't
| look down!
|
| The URL for the hotel is
| http://www.oldpines.co.uk/default.asp?page=home
|
| I hope this is of some use to anyone who is interested in coming north. I
| warn you though, it's a heck of a long way from you southerners (smile).
|
