Steve, Kevin and others interested in this thread. A somewhat related topic has emerged on the Plextalk list regarding Dolphin products and how, sometimes, there appear to be clashes between Producer, , Easy Reader, and the Plextor DAISY software. I believe Brian Hartgen and others have experienced hang ups with the Plextor software when trying to start it with the Dolphin software installed. No doubt Dolphin will address this issue before long if, as it seems, the problem might lye with their programs. (I hope Brian Hartgen might find the time to comment on what I've said.) I mention the Plextor here too as a final reminder that this stand alone recorder and its software allow for production of DAISY formatted CDs. I think the Plextor software also supports plain MP3 compilations, but seemingly you cannot mix these with DAISY content on the same cD. I have some feeling for where Steve's coming from re. the expense of the Producer software, but it does work seamlessly with Word and in doing so provides self-voicing output too. I was quite impressed with what I saw and heard at Sight Village this year of Producer in action and I feel Dolphin could be onto a good thing as concatenated voices get better and demand rises for quick turn round of material in DAISY format. I'll just end by commenting that you have to know MS Word a little better than many do to use Producer as it depends on properly defined headings in the text to generate the DAISY files. You should take into account that it is not a white goods product like a fridge and Dolphin have put allot of development into this product. I use Hal we and Jfw and I can only say that Dolphin's support is second to none!!! so to take your complaint that it is expensive yes You are correct but like i say you get what You pay for. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
