Hi,

There are the standard tweaks of making sure you don't have too much loading
at startup that you don't need. This includes utilities that may have been
pre-loaded and configured with the netbook.

Then, you can make sure your settings in Control Panel > System > Advanced >
Advanced are set for best performance. I've found that the configuration of
the theme and display settings does a lot for screen reader performance and
the sluggishness of the machine in general.

Take a look at this site and see what you can do with it:
http://www.blackviper.com/Windows_7/servicecfg.htm
It made a very significant difference to the performance of my own machine.

For MS Office applications, disable unused addins such as OneNote, and for
IE, Research, Bluetooth, etc.

Having done this, you should be some way to having a faster machine. Of
course, remember that you cannot actually increase the speed of the thing,
only give the remaining programs more resources to take a share of by
restricting other programs that do not need them. My friend I mentioned
previously followed the above and was able to do without a RAM upgrade.

HTH.
