Thanks, Wendy.

However, when I use the applications key it just says "Applications" and that's it. No arrowing, tabbing or anything else will get me anywhere. On reading all the other messages in this thread, I think maybe that this was a free trial or something. It came with this Dell computer I have and I don't know whether it was free or not. It may well be out of date now.

Alternatively, this DVD I'm trying may be faulty.

The third choice of course is an idiotic user! (smile).

Thanks for all your help, folks.

Do DVD's play with Windows Media Player? I might try uninstalling this Power DVD and try that instead.

Best wishes,

Joan.

Joan

I recently worked out how to use Power DVD. Just press the applications key or shift F10, then cursor up and down the menu. There is one called titles
submenu, and when you get to it you cursor right once and then down to the
title you want to play. Keep trying until you get the DVD started. Hope
that helps.

Wendy

On the same subject, I have Power DVD on my PC but for the life of me I
don't know how to work it. Are there scripts available?

Best wishes,

Joan.

Hi all,

WMP 11, XP Home, Jaws 8

I am attempting to play a DVD for the first time on my fairly newly built
PC.

On putting in the DVD, I am given three options:

Play using Windows Media Player,
View folders, or something like this,
Take no action.

I enter on Windows Media Player, and a message pops up:

"Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to change your
Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel and then
try lowering your screen resolution and colour quality settings".

Both were at maximum, so I lowered them.

I got the same message.

My wife has a laptop, and using Windows Media Player, with her screen
settings the same as mine, she is able to play DVd's.

Two questions please:

1, Any ideas what I can do to cure this problem?

2, Is there a, if possible, free software DVD player that I can try, and
that would work?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Keith
