Hi, I've discovered that the product is actually made by HP, and it's called HP DVD. I'm not impressed with it. Totally inaccessible as far as I can see. Are there any other alternative, preferably free or cheap at least, DVD players? I know WinDVD and PowerDVD itself are two, so may look into that, but any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Power DVD is, indeed, made by Cyberlink. I don't know what your system is
like, but you should have it listed in your start menu and all programs. If you press windows key for start menu, then P till you hear programs, you may
or may not need to cursor right once to get into the list. Then press C
till you hear Cyberlink, cursor right once and you should hear Power DVD.
Press enter to launch.

As I have mentioned before, it is quite easy to work using the applications
key or shift F10 to get into the menus.

Hi, I have some weird DVD player that came with my laptop. Using JAWS and/or

NVDA, all I can read is Cyberlink; in fact, NVDA doesn't work with it at
all. Could this be PowerDVD? According to Programmes and Features, I doubt
it, as it calls it "HPDVD", or something strange like that. Thanks in
advance.

On the same subject, I have Power DVD on my PC but for the life of me I
don't know how to work it. Are there scripts available?

Best wishes,

Joan.

Hi all,

WMP 11, XP Home, Jaws 8

I am attempting to play a DVD for the first time on my fairly newly built
PC.

On putting in the DVD, I am given three options:

Play using Windows Media Player,
View folders, or something like this,
Take no action.

I enter on Windows Media Player, and a message pops up:

"Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to change
your
Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel and then
try lowering your screen resolution and colour quality settings".

Both were at maximum, so I lowered them.

I got the same message.

My wife has a laptop, and using Windows Media Player, with her screen
settings the same as mine, she is able to play DVd's.

Two questions please:

1, Any ideas what I can do to cure this problem?

2, Is there a, if possible, free software DVD player that I can try, and
that would work?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Keith
