I always found if the number of columns made it too small to read switching from portrait to landscape (turning 90 degrees often made all the difference. If still too small then there are too many columns and lines to fit one page.

Yes, but the problem with scale to fit is that where you have several columns the print size can be reduced to a size where it is difficult to read. How do you ensure that this does not happen. Without of course asking help from a sighted person.

1) Click on the “Page Layout” tab in the Ribbon
2) Look for the “Page Setup” group, and click on the little square with the arrow pointing out of it in the bottom right hand corner
3) In the “Page Setup” box that appears, look in the “Scaling” section, and select “Fit to:”
4) By default, it will be set to one page wide by one page tall. Select how many pages wide or tall you want your spreadsheet to be printed as.
5) Click “Print Preview” if you want to take a look at what the scaled or up version of your spreadsheet will look like, and if you are happy with it – click “Print”! 

6) Click “OK” to close the Page Setup box
Whether it remains readable will depend on how much data is incorporated. I used this facility a lot when I used Lotus 123 which I still much prefer to Excel but things have moved on not necessarily for the better. Hope this works for you.

I also use Excel with JAWS and maintain an account for a small church group.
I am able to do most of the things I want to. The thing I have not mastered though is how to ensure that the full width of the database fits on a printed page without spilling on to a second page and yet remains readable.

Please could someone advise on which is a suitable data base to be used with either Jaws or NVDA to run on a Windows 7 home premium platform. The data base is for a small local voluntary society for the blind, and if anyone has experience with data bases, any general advice will be most helpful.
