And as well as playing BBC content, I listen to live football off the net, from comercial radio, and it uses RealPlayer, so, wondering if I install Real Alternative instead, if it will automatically play the commentary, or if I'll have to configure it in some way?

OK, so its thumbs down for Real Player. But, will Real Alternative play
streams normally reserved for the BBC Player? I've a feeling the answer is

Yes, Andy; I'll second Vince's message about real alternative. I've used it for ages and it streams BBC programmes just fine. Real player is a pain in the . . . and I couldn't wait to get rid of it!
