Well Kevin, for what its worth, as I've said to Sandra off-list, I don't personally have much problem with Realone Player. You can, as you say, disable live updating, although quite often Real Player wants to download and put a file called "TKBellExe in the start-up items. I disable this and that doesn't seem to cause any grief with RP. I think the run around people have in getting the unpaid for version puts people in a bad frame of mind towards Real Networks from the start. Given half a chance they're a very pushy outfit. Its a business model or method that really gets my goat. I suppose that and the much loathed BBC Player go a long way to explaining people's antipathy towards Real Networks. I guess they make the majority of money from streaming stations that are into digital rights management. and I believe they started out with the big idea of distributing music in protected formats. I dare say all that might indicate why the Beeb are prepared to pay over so much to them for their streaming. That and, I guess, them being the first on the block in that business.
