Well, Chris, I'd check that the .EXE files for OE appeared to be there and maybe risk copying over fresh versions; otherwise I might well go for a re-install myself.


The option to "Repair Outlook Express" threw up a few interesting links to things that are *definitely* supposed to work ... (maybe)! I wouldn't personally hold your breath.

Try to get your friend to think when last it was running and what she's done since that time, with new installations of other items, updates etc. This may help.

Mind you, if it's not working then you haven't got a great deal to lose. You're not supposed to copy the "Inbox" for example, but I think it probably re-creates itself if it's not found ... so I might be inclined to try removing it from the folder where the .DBX files are stored and see what happens then. (Keep it safe of course in case you want to put it back.) <Smiles>

I'd be personally interested to know how you go on with this little nut.

Hi all,
I was hoping my friend would post this query, but ah well, no worries.
Anyway I will be seeing her this Saturday for the day, and one of the jobs
will be to try and repair her Outlook Express so that it at least runs. I
suggested to her that I'll attempt to delete her identities folder. Will it
fix the problem whereby she can in no way start Outlook Express, as if she
tries to it just doesn't run. She currently uses Outlook, but prefers
Outlook Express over the former. What else could I do in order to fix the
above. Thanks in advance.
