Oh yeah, of course! I was referring to the setting in Outlook Express, thus 
the apparently stupid question. Thanks for the reminder, greatly

Hi,

Someone a few days ago was talking about Outlook Express and I gave
suggestions about backing up/deleting folders, then gradually reintroducing
them.  They were wondering whether gmail allows one to leave a copy of
messages on the server.  Having just signed up for gmail and looking the
settings - it does allow this; When pop is enabled, you have the option of
leaving messages in the in box, deleting them or archiving them.
