You will get cover for the first year of your contract but will then have to arrange for your own insurance if you want it, unless you upgrade your box and then a new cover will be in place for a year. Now for the interesting bit. What seems to happen is that when it is near to the end of your cover via Sky, you seem to get phone calls from companies offering to 'extend' your cover. They seem to have details of what box you have and the date of the end of your first year which all seems to point to them being Sky themselves or at least an official affiliate. They are not. They have got your details from Sky having poor data protection and your personal details being passed onto these other companies. There is an 'official' Sky protect company which can be found by navigating through the wonderfully clean and simple Sky website!! There may not be anything wrong with the cover these third parties offer, but some are pretty slow to admit to simply cold calling you with personal details they perhaps shouldn't have. I think they were trying to sell me extra service cover for our Sky dish and HD box. I didn't go far with the discussion as they have called a few times in the past and I'm not convinced by them so was wondering if others on list have had contact and how they have responded and also wondering as a Sky subscriber do we get service / repair cover as part of our ongoing service? As I say forgive me if it's o/t but I couldn't find much info on the Sky website itself, Cheers, Phil __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4658 (20091203) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4658 (20091203) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
