Ray, you need to read the course material to know that. It is one of these really pointless questions that serves almost no purpose what so ever other than proving that the student has read the course material. You could answer that it produces heat, makes a noise, plugs into the mains and takes up space but all are true but give almost no helpful information about how the CPU relates to the computer. A CPU is also just one part of a processor but now in exams it seems to be a reference to the box containing the motherboard, power supply, diskdrives and other core components. Really the only way to answer some of these theoury questions is to read the material and spit out the required answers. Having access to a few practice papers probably helps. Someone was saying though that RNIB wasn't interested in challenging what appeared to be the less than accomodating attitude of those providing EDCL courses. Reading through my sister's course material Certainly the content didn't seem over-challenging to me, though I'd be hard pressed to answer the four things the CPU does in a computer - that being one of the questions. Hope you have some success with getting to do an ECDL. Cheers, From Ray I can be contacted off-list at: mailto:ray-48@xxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- naomijenkins@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Hi Jim Success on the ECDL level 1 modules on theory, file management and internet and email is relatively straightforward. Level 2 which is word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation is a bit more challenging regarding complexity and the amount of knowledge needed. All the exams are available in Braille, large print and audio. I haven't any experience of these formats.
