Hi Christine, It makes sense now to purchase your own player, since the Talking Book subscription is 20 quid off if you do. They are trying to move away from the rent a player idea in my view. I have a plextalk reader now and I don't like it, its heavier, has no carrying handle and I don't like the way it functions. I wear two hearing aids and also find it Far harder to hear. The mains cable is also like a laptops with a box on a cable with another cable to plug in to it and the mains. The victor reader has one mains cable and I like it. Do you Have to purchase one instead of Loaning? Good luck in making the right choice. I know there is the Victor Reader vibe but i seem to remember there is another portable player on sale but it is not listed on the RNIB site, does anyone know about this? I would be obliged if someone could advise me on how good these portable players are and if there is a second player, which is the best for functions and battery life etc. Look forward to hearing soon.
