Hi Phil.

The Wave is indeed the other very portable walkman style player.
I prefer it to the Vibe as it has advanced daisy functionality controlled by
a numeric pad located on the top of the unit.
You can use three types of batteries, the one's which are supplied with the
machine are rechargeable from within the unit and give around 8 hours play.
You can also use normal nonhuman rechargeable batteries however these will
not recharge in the unit so have to be externally recharged. I did think
this was a ploy to make you buy replacement Human batteries, however it is
actually correct as I tried charging non Human rechargeable in the unit and
it didn't work.
Finally from a battery perspective you can use normal double A batteries and
good makes will often out perform rechargeable batteries.

Operationally it's quite fast, although slightly slower than desktop style
players.

The sound reproduction is very good.
It will play standard Audio CD's, MP3, wav wma and Daisy material.

The only annoying thing about the unit I find is that for some reason when
you are playing books using mains power the batteries do not recharge.

Hope all this is helpful.
