Hi
It is possible to register for this directly without doing it during the
process of trying to purchase from a store.
The Verified by Visa site for the UK is:
http://www.visaeurope.com/personal/onlineshopping/verifiedbyvisa/signup/uk.jsp
There are links from here to the sites of banks that offer online
registration for Verified by Visa.

I tried to update my add-aware Se personal edition software today via the
online store, but I could not get the payment to work, as the company seem
to have gone over to verified by Visa for visa card payments.
Therefore, my questions are the following:
1. in order to enable me to use verified by Visa, what steps do I have to
follow please?
( I apologise for asking a question that may have been covered before,
but at the time, I was not wanting to purchase anything online.)
2. Once I have set up Verified by Visa, how easy is it to use with
Supernova please?
