Regarding the discussion of a larger ensemble for Zilker, a few of us this
weekend were talking about possibly organizing a small wind ensemble--like 1-2
per part, much like we did this summer--to play at Zilker because we assumed it
was more like what the city would want. However, there wouldn't be much time
for practice, so it feels like me might have to limit participation to people
who could perform the traditional music with just a rehearsal or two. How would
we (Robert?) feel about that, since it would be pretty unusual for ACWE?

Subject: [acweboard] Zilker Information
Good Afternoon,
I met with Amanda who is the coordinator for music groups for Zilker. At this
point there is no decision about what the Zilker event will look like. Here
are some of the points discussed in our conversation.
* Zilker tree lighting will not be a virtual event this year.
* If there is a public ceremony band members and public will need to either
present a vaccination card or proof of negative COVID test. The COVID test
must be taken with in 72 hours of the event (the day after Thanksgiving).
* The options being discussed with the event committee and the higher ups
are to either do a full program, a scaled back program, or just turn on the
tree lights.
* Currently there is no answer in terms of time frame that the decision
will be made. Amanda and the committee are hoping to know what the decision
will be next week.
* I mentioned that ACWE is using small ensembles and has discussed having a
larger ensemble for Zilker. Amanda indicated that she would prefer a larger
ensemble.
I will continue to update the board on Zilker when I have information.
