Back in 2003 I could see the white clouds of smoke on Rocket Ridge at Edwards when they burned off tons of boron hydrides. They had been storing the evil stuff for decades at great expense and decided to stop wasting resources. Ironic that the boron made a long journey from the mine only a few miles away to a chemical plant in New Jersey, then back to the valley where it had been extracted from the ground half a century earlier.
