Everyone is invited to our annual Sparrow Day at Guesses Fork next Saturday,
November 3. We will meet at the mouth of Guesses Fork at 8:30 a.m. and carpool
from there if necessary. The birding site can only be accessed by a 4-wheel
drive vehicle.
We will be having a wiener roast with all the fixings, as usual. Spinach dip
and various desserts are also on the menu. If anyone would like to bring a side
dish, it would be welcome. Everyone should bring their own drinks. Also,
everyone will need to bring a chair.
On past trips to this site, we have logged as many as 10 different species of
sparrows, including the elusive Henslow's Sparrow. The "hike" will actually be
about a three-hour stroll on level ground.
We will not re-schedule this trip unless torrential rains are falling at 8:29
a.m. Saturday morning (and Ed and I will still be going).
