I picked 144.9 as a compromise between those with antennas cut for 144 - 145
(most weak
signal antennas) and those cut for 145 - 147 (most verticals for FM). ARRL band
plan says that
is a valid spot for weak signal.
If I used 144.2, I think it would create issues for many people with J-poles
or similar verticals,
and the real target for this net is those guys, not the people with serious
horizontal beams. Though
I hope we'll get some of those (like you)!
