Another thing - in addition to references, NEVER hire a teacher without
having her or him give a sample lesson with REAL students! THIS is the ONLY
way you can get any idea about the person's ability to relate to/connect
with the students, the material, the classroom situation. Just like in
theatre- what director would hire an actor without an audition!? The
classroom in many ways, is like a stage (only harder - at least on stage you
(usually) get a script! And any actor can tell you that improve is the
hardest of performing situation! ;)
