Ziona, you misunderstand! I DO teach projects AND my schools have had students preparing portfolios in literature even before it became a part of the curriculum. We test them orally and in writing and they do varied assignments. What I protest is going back to the kind of bagrut that does not allow the students to analyze and be creative, not necessarily according to HOTs. If one's class is to do the written F exam, the teachers will have to limit themselves to specific pieces of literature, unlike today where a teacher can suit literature choices to different classes and change the choices from year to year. If the teacher chooses to do the log, it too becomes less interesting and more time-consuming than what we do today. I want us to go forward and not backward. I do not want to be teaching even more topics that students have not yet dealt with in their first language, as I now do when I teach students how to write a project, what plagiarism is etc.I do not know what you are referring to when you ask if I want to teach my students to lie??? But again, I am not discussing the advantages /disadvantages of the new program. I am discussing the fact that yet again, English teachers are being asked to take on even more work, with no compensation. I am stating clearly that if we do not all stand together and refuse to start the new program without financial compensation, we have no right to complain that we are overworked and undercompensated. I hope that clears things up. All the best, Veronica 2009/7/7 Ziona Levi <z_levi@xxxxxxxxxx> > How can you instigate such a plan? Don't you see the value of teaching > projects and oral tests?
