I am generally very supportive of Irgun Hamorim, however, I disagree with
the claim that if no Irgun teachers take the course the program won't
start. First of all, plenty of Histadrut teachers have taken the course and
will be prepared to teach the appropriate modules. Second, we saw what
happened when teachers followed the Irgun directives regarding projects this
past year -- no one "caved in" and students ended up having to take the oral
exam wth no projects. I'm sorry, but I don't for a second believe that if
we don't take the course the Ministry will delay the start of the program.
Instead, what I see happening is our students being grossly unprepared for
the literature exam.
I didn't take the course during the school year because of the Irgun
directives. Then I gave the Irgun the entire year to work the problem out
and nothing happened. Nothing. So I'm one of those Irgun teachers who have
registered for the summer course.
