One of the most important things I teach my students is that honesty is the most important quality -it is holy, in my eyes. The moment a student (or a person - unconnected to the classroom) is dishonest with me, I lose faith in him/her, and regaining faith that has been betrayed is VERY hard - practically impossible. Nina's suggestion here, in my eyes, is the most shocking thing that a teacher could do: to teach her students that lying is ok. I am ashamed and deeply disappointed that on this list teachers are condoning lying; where are our morals? Don't get me wrong: I am all in favor of gaining better conditions and wages for myself and my colleagues. We are VERY special, hard working professionals. But by teaching our students to LIE!!!! This, in my eyes, has crossed a VERY big red line! Adele If the ministry isn't prepared to honor teachers who are following Irgun instructions, then I propose that we teachers take matters into our own hands. I, for one, WILL NOT penalize a student whose teacher has followed irgun instructions. I will "doctor" the grade so that the students' grade on the interview becomes the whole oral grade. I'm saying this openly and I earnestly urge my fellow teachers to do the same. [Adele P. Raemer] ....... Come on, teachers, we are the ones who test, not the ministry!!!
