[gps-talkusers] POI content

One of the things about POI content is that it varies from place to place.
Our beta testers all agreed that Foursquare should be the default POI
source. Yes, you do get some junk but I'd rather have too much content than
not enough and others agreed.

I don't find many personal residences listed. I do come across points where
someone has marked a train that is moving or a booth in an exhibit hall
which is long gone.

Not long ago, Foursquare allowed users to add their own points. It would
appear that they have withdrawn that capability, probably because there was
too much of this personal stuff.

It is very cool to find gates and restaurants in airports of businesses
inside malls. The Foursquare model definitely helps to reinforce marking of
indoor locations. The Getting Warmer feature of the Seeing Eye GPS is
intended for use in situations where you want to find an indoor location or
other places where there aren't streets to route on.

Let me assure you that user POI creation is very high on our list. This is
something Sendero has been doing since the Atlas days. This app would never
have come out if we had waited for all the cool features to be implemented.
User points and favorites will be on the feature list, available soon, for
you to vote on. I want it as bad as you do.
