Hello,
I am wondering if you can have someone check the receiver when it is plugged in, so that you can see which lights are on to know if the receiver is working or not.
If the receiver is working, then you might want to try reinstalling keysoft, for there might be a problem with the bluetooth setting in your braillenote.
Hope this works.
Robert

Mike,

I am not sure what the real problem is, it sounds like it might
be the
reciever at this point, since you said that you have never lost
the
Bluetooth connection with the Holux, but you have notice this
with other
recievers.

I am also finding for some reason that when searching for a
bluetooth
device that for some reason the Holux won't be detected, I have
tested this
with it being plugged into an outlet, just to make sure that it
wasn't a
fault with the battery, and I am still not able to detect the
Holux
reciever. So, it sounds like that there is something defintely
wrong with
the reciever.

I have also notice before the BrailleNote not being able to
detect the
Holux, that sometimes I was not able to enter the authentication
code,
which is 0000, when i entered the authentication code, I got the
message,
"failed to pair with bluetooth device." I have tried these test
on two
mPower units, and I am getting the same results. So, if it is a
fault with
the reciever, is there a possibility of getting some sort of
replacement
from either Sendero or the Holux company.

I will be sure to kepe a mental note of that to keep the
bluetooth
connection turned on, since it sounds like it speeds up the
process and
there is less steps to go through, which will allow for me to get
on with
better and funner things, rather than configuring the bluetooth
connection.

I will also be sure to keep a mental note of returning back to
the main menu
before turning the reciever off, the primary reason I turned the
reciever
off before returning back to the main menu was because with the
BlueLogger
it was tricky to tell if the reciever was off, unless you got the
message,
"bluetooth reciever not detected." It will be a lot easier to
tell if the
Holux is off or on, especially with the physical on/off switch, I
have
really come to enjoy the physical on/off switch myself.

I will also keep a note of that to wait 10 seconds before
starting the GPS
Program.

Well, I will take all of the suggestions you had to offer and
let that
determine if it is a Holux problem or a user problem.

Kevin

Kevin,

Excellent testing and documentation.

I never lose the Bluetooth connection with the Holux but I have
seen this
happen when the Bluetooth connection will flick out and then
back again
while you are still in the GPS program. The strange thing is
that if you
lose the BT connection because you get too far away from the
BrailleNote
or because the receiver runs out of power, you cannot
reestablish a
connection without going back to the Main Menu. Hence, why can
the BT
appear to be off for a few seconds and then reconnect? One
theory might be
that the receiver isn't really losing the connection and we are
getting a
bad report that it is disconnected. The question still remains,
what would
be causing this erroneous report of a disconnection?

I advise the following procedures as described in the Getting
Started
document.I never turn the Bluetooth connection off. I know some
people do
in order to save battery life but I don't.

I also recommend exiting to the Main Menu before turning the
receiver off.

Before loading the GPS application, wait 10 seconds or more at
the Main
Menu.

Mike

Dear GPS listserv,

I have notice while using the Holux reciever that for some odd
reason it
will lose the bluetooth connection between the BrailleNote and
the
reciever,
this will occur when I am in the gps program, it isn't because it
is out
of
the bluetooth range, I have notice this occuring while either
when I am
walking, so the reciever is fastened in the shoulder strap and
the
BrailleNote is about hip levvel. I am certtain that it isn't a
matter of
the
bluetooth being out of range.

I have also notice the same incident occuring when I am traveling
in a
vehicle. When I am traveling in a vehicle, I will place the
reciever on
the
dash and have the BrailleNote on my lap in the front passenger
seat. I
would
say that in both incidents at all times the reciever is no more
than 3
feet
away from the brailleNote, so aI am certain that it isn't a
matter of the
bluetooth being out of range, because if it was a matter of the
bluetooth
being out of range, then I would of noticed the same thing
occuring with
the BlueLogger , which I have never seen happened.

I have also notice that when I am switching both the BrailleNote
and the
Holux off for aperiod of time, then turning it back on when I
need to use
it, that sometimes the two devices will pair and activesync will
be
active,
but when I go into the GPS Program it says "bluetooth reciever
not
detected." Then after a while with switching the Holux off and on
and
switching bluetooth off and on, it will suddenly come back and
will have a
fix. I have notice that this can take as long as 30 seconds to
5
minutes,
which I find pretty excessive.

I will list the steps that I go through when turning off the
BrailleNote
and
the Holux, I have tried turning them off two different ways to
see if that
would make a difference, which I have not found to be true.
Technique 1.
1. While in the GPS Program, hit space bar with dots 1, 2, 3, 4,
5, 6, to
get to the main menu.
2. hit the spacebar with the letter o to get to options menu
3. hit the letter c for connectivity
4. hit the letter b for bluetooth.
5. when it ask is bluetooth on, I will press the letter n for
no.
6. Then I will turn off the Holux
8. Then I will return back to the main menu, and turn off the
BrailleNote

Technique 2.
1. While in the GPS Program, I will turn off the recievver, it
will say
"bluetooth reciever not detected."
2. I will then return to the main menu
3. I will go to options, connectivity, bluetooth, I will see if
bluetooth
is
off, if it isn't I will turn it off.
4. Then I will return back to the main menu and turn off the
BrailleNote.

I will list the steps below that I use when turning on the two
devices,
again I tried two different ways to see if that would make a
difference,
it
turns out that it doesn't.
Technique 1.
1. Turn on the Holux
2. Turn on the BrailleNote
3. Go into options, connectivity, bluetooth, turn it on, check
to see if
the
Holux is paired and active.
4. I will then go into the GPS program

Technique 2.
1. Turn the BrailleNote on, then go into options, connectivity,
bluetooth,
turn on bluetooth, then make sure it is paired and active.
2. turn on the Holux
3. Open the GPS Program.

I am not sure if the issue lies in the steps that I am going
through,
which
I don't think it does; I don't think that it is the steps,
because these
are
the same steps that I went through using the BlueLogger and it
worked just
fine. I just thought that I would list the steps just in case
there is one
that I should use over the other.

So, I am wondering if any of you have also experience the
bluetooth
reciever
not detected message showing up whihle you are in the GPS
program, and not
being able to make the bluetooth connection work between the
BrailleNote
after you have checked to see that they were indeed paired and
active. If
you have found a special technique that you have found to work
flawlessly,
do share. If none of you have experience this same issue, then
it might be
a
matter of me having a defected reciever, which I will phone my
dealer
about.

Thank you for taking your time in reading this post, and I am
looking
forward to what you are able to suggest.

Kevin
