There was a map engine used by several products, which was discontinued. Map
companies have also merged and changed formats. Google and Apple both have
costs for using their maps and POIs on a commercial basis. Some may have seen
that HumanWare updated their maps to Here Maps on the Trekker.
These underlying software and data changes mean that a product can't simply be
updated to a new platform. This is some of what is behind the accessible
navigation changes in the market.
GoodMaps Explore is on the latest platform including a code base that means IOS
and Android can be developed together. When you are offering an app for free,
all these considerations are important.
Do send in your suggestions so Explore can evolve the way users wish.

Yeah. Seeing Eye GPS was one of my favorites until Aira bought it. I still
use NearBy Explorer on both Android and iOS and Soundscape on iOS if I am not
going to be doing anything but walking.

Nearby Explorer had a great deal more features than this Good Maps Explore.
I used to like Seeing Eye GPS until Aira bought it. No more yearly subscrition
and no recent updates.
