IMO, foss lab server at engineering college level is not ?a right tool,
I believe teaching students on the installation process gives greater
understanding on various aspects of the trade.

          How does teaching installation "alone" help in understanding
various aspects of the "trade". I don't really understand what 'trade'
in this context means. But I don't see how not knowing the
installation of GNU/Linux or a specific tool will prevent a person
from using it well. Again, nothing prevents the students from learning
installation. Most of the FOSS labs are of the order of 30 machines.
And all colleges should have much more machines than that. Let them
try hands-on on those machines.

Personally, I felt fosslab server announcement ?is more of a noise and I
marked fosslab server poster under my spam tab.


          You may classify it whatever you like and you are entitled
to have your opinion of calling it "noise". But you forget to see how
many students get exposed to FOSS with the efforts of Baskar. Without
this excellent efforts, most of those students would still be using
Windows and compiling C/C++ programs on Turbo C++ or MS VC++. The
objective of this group is to promote FOSS and to make people
understand the harm software patents and proprietary cause. And Baskar
is contributing in a great way towards that. Thanks
