I find it surprising because, there are lots of people ( who would
otherwise switch to linux)  stuck with Windows just because they can't
run office on Linux. Mac is expensive. Linux alternatives are not good
enough for them due to their familiarity with MS software. Would this
not be a major blow to Microsoft OSes?



the future is in mobile and the tablet market - and most devices have
already ditched microsoft. Linux adoption (especially in the government
and - corporate sectors - which are the only sectors that pay for
software) is growing. To survive, microsoft needs to have a go at this
market.
