Avoid KDE. Gnome will work like a charm.
What to talk of the superiority of C vs C++? Gnome is written in C
though it uses OO concepts and it blazing fast.
KDE can be used to squeeze and torture your system if you are into
that sort of thing...
This is of course, one man's opinion. In another's (mine), Gnome sucks
big time while KDE's the best thing since sliced bread.
Duh, not a GNOME vs KDE flame again, we have had enough.
IMHO, the preference of desktop is individual's choice and I have seen
both of them work well for an average joe's requirements. I personally
(though have been using GNOME since I first installed GNU/Linux) never
subscribe any particular desktop, just tell people what are all
available and how each one looks. Then, I leave the decision to them.
