Thanks a lot friends for you overwhelmed support on this issue.
Sorry friends, I was busy with other activities and Touchtel DSL
installation.... so i was not able to post reply immediately. DSL
installation is over yesterday. It is working fine with M$. In Linux i
got the id of USB modem through dmesg.
It is not eciadsl supported modem :( :(.
But It is a connexant chip modem (i don't know the chip number....).
Model is Aethra StarModem 0572/cb06
For connexant chipset modems there are two options of driver we can try.
1. AccessRunner driver
2. Olitec driver
I have downloaded Olitec driver (thro' standby M$) and started
making.... it is giving some error... yet to continue today night...
hope I will do it and make a nice document of how-to so that other
touchtel users also will be benefitted. (btw, i spoke to Tochtel people,
soon they are coming with linux official support! )
Regards,
T.KaruppuSwamy

He doesn't want to use M$ :-) please see his first post. But withoutoh you mean "install the router plan first, paying 2 or 3 times the amt
driver how can he install the modem in linux. So he has to first download
the driver using M$(at his home) and then config it in linux.
i see the only way he can connect to internet without M$ windows help is
router.
of money for a usb modem, then download the linux usb routers, then
contact dishnet / touchtel, cancel the router account and get a new usb
account"?
his home. he can download the linux driver from there and
<snip>
Also he can remove windows once modem works in linux.
</snip>
so all he has to do is to go to a cybercafe or somewhere and d/l theWhat he is going to do? that he has to decide and we are arguing for that?
linux drivers for the model of his usb modem, bring it home burnt onto a
CD or floppy.
ok no flames. i stop here.
sorry if i was wrong anywhere.
