Hi,
The reliance phone is connected to the PC via a serial cable and
via a USB cable. I have worked on interfacing the reliance phone with
a Linux Point of Sale terminal, once you have a modem device detected
on linux the reliance script is just used to point the ppp to the
device detected(a symb link) . In short you just use his scripts for
connecting via PPP, the drivers for usb are usbserial,ftdi_sio(depends
on your serial-usb converter , mostly the ones available in ritchie's
/ reliance dealers are ftdi). Most of the kernels have the ftdi driver
in their source or alternatively you could download the source from
the ftdi site.You would not need a driver for the serial cable.
The at+crm= is used to specify between FWT and Handsets as far as i
know, they are all there in the scripts.You could just figure out what
he is doing by just looking at his script.It has been quite some time
since i worked on it.
I had some problems in an embedded kernel where the reliance server
autheticated me with a Local RAP (Reliance Application Platform) IP
(when i used his scripts).I had to goto DAKC (Reliance HQ) and found
out the CHAP/PAP was not autheticating me.If anyone gets into such a
problem use -f option and specify your password filename in pppd.It
should work.
The 114kbps he promises is just another Sales slicker.Your serial port
would support 115200 , but dont even think of going beyond 10 kpbs
(even that if you are damn lucky) .
