[Ilugc] refund of the microsoft tax

Am planning to buy a laptop, an Acer 4002WLCi most probably.
Unfortunately it comes bundled with XP Prof!! Any one have
experience/heard-of attempts to get a refund for this in Inida? Like
this instance (http://www.netcraft.com.au/geoffrey/toshiba.html) in
Australia way back in the late 90s!

And any views on the particular model of the laptop... linux
compatibility, performance etc?
