The few professional scripters I know are all sighted. Most work in the
public sector but a couple are freelance. They script full time and have a
very good understanding of screen reader users' needs.

We provide training for web developers to teach them how blind people use
computers, and whilst Don's comments about them not understanding are
certainly true at first, we find that most of them do learn. Of course that
may be because the ones who come to us have a particular interest rather
than having it forced on them by their employers.

Subject: [jawsscripts] Scripting capabilities.

Evening,

An interesting question came up today at work. Would it be easier to
teach a sighted programmer to use Jaws, or a Jaws user with some technical
leanings to programme? The programming in question would of course be Jaws
scripting.

I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on this. I'd also like
to know if there are any sighted Jaws scripters out there? I presume that FS
probably employ some, but don't know with any certainty.

Regards,
Léonie.
