Sometimes it is not a button. Sometimes it is the alt attribute that it is
reading off a graphic.

Subject: [jawsscripts] testing for element attributes from whence jaws
derives it's labels.

I hope the list will forgive the liberty of reposting a message I just
posted, but under a less relevant and kinda dumber subject heading, I just
thought I might get more hits on it if I did so with a more relevant one.

Yep, Thanks for the headsup Jim re insuring one isn't in forms mode when one
hits the jaws+Shift+F1 key for the element attributes listing dialog.

Even after examining that dump though,
I found It just didn't tell me though where jaws was brabbing the label
from. I.e. it must be that at least the first couple of these attributes
Scott mentions from the below, i.e. ARIA-LABEL, TITLE, ALT, VALUE, and
intra-tag text content, are simply not all shown in that insert+Shift+f1
dumping?
I know that Alt usually is, if there is one, but I've never seen mention of
aria attributes in there for example?
I think I was using jaws 14 to check this???

Hmmm.

As another example I'd simply love to probe to the bottom of, so I could
tell someone whose now working at apple who., might, actually care, and
whom I know could possibly get this reversed/changed, if I was able to tell
him precisely into what particular attribute, labels need to be optimally
stuffed for jaws to just naturally announce them by default, Which has
driven me crazy for a while now.
Coz in iTunes store now, every song in any listing, always contains an
"unlabelled 0" button now, which is it's play button, above the song name.
Which means you hit b for button, to jump to the next song, then you gotta
arrow down in virtual land, to hear that song's name, then arrow up again to
the unlabelled 0 button in order to hit spacebar on it to play the preview.
However in versions of iTunes gone by, there was a far lovelier time, where
the song name was auto-embedded into that button label. Meaning you could
far more elegantly and efficiently, hit b to navigate between the songs in a
given list, hear their titles immediately, and hit space if you wanted to
preview them.
many buttons in Flash movies too, I notice have this problem, of being
Unlabelled followed by a number. And I'd just love to be able to tell
developers, exactly where to stick those labels, to have them readily
anounced by jaws.
if anyone has any further thoughts on this, I'd love to hear them.
