Hi All,
I went birding late this morning at Clapp Park, as the clouds started moving
in. There was a fair amount of action in the shrubs near the stone benches.
Wilson Warblers, Clay-colored Sparrows, and hummingbirds were seen there. The
other good site was the sunflower patch by Culvert #1 (the culvert that drains
the fenced Arboretum). Wilson Warblers and a Orange-crowned Warbler were seen
here, mostly in the knotweed closest to the lake. I also had a Brewer’s
Sparrow and a Painted Bunting in the sunflowers.
The lakes have water again and the back gate has been reopened. With a
continued surge of northerly winds tonight perhaps we will have more migrant
friends to view in the next few days.
