High darned time to kill the Frankenstein beast, 8-VSB. And I am working on it. Whether I am successful or not 8-VSB will self distruct IMO. Bob Miller On 1/17/07, Manfredi, Albert E <albert.e.manfredi@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote:

John, I believe in full and honest disclosure. If you mention the Sinclair tests, then talk about the Sinclair tests. Not someone else's test. In any event, my takeaway from Jan's test was that in the far field, the receivers were roughly equal. "Subjectively, there were slightly more glitches using COFDM than using 8-VSB." Therefore, if 8-VSB receivers are updated and improved to the point where urban reception is good, e.g. in-Mark-Schubin's-apartment good, THEN we can finally stop obsessing over COFDM and instead concentrate on making things happen with what we've got. It's high darned time, John. Also, note that the sensitivity of all of the receivers was just so-so. All but one were -78 dBm, which is not so impressive. Must have had highish noise figures. Here's an example of making things happen. I notice that Mark Aitken's CW 54 station has gone blank in 54-2 and 54-3. Past couple or three weeks, I believe. Hey Mark. What are your plans? How about France 24 on one of those, as a perfect OTA substitute for CNN? Also, add a third subchannel to Fox 45. Thanks!!
