Actually, I think we were trying to say the same thing. There is more than perceived value in the existing broadcast HD plants - there is little incentive to upgrade until things settle out with the "spectrum grab" and broadcasters come up with a plan for the future. I suspect that the ATSC is looking at h.265 for a next generation standard; but more important, I expect that CBS and Sony will demand that 1080i is part of that next standard.

I doubt that the broadcasters who survive the next few years are going to have the good sense to tell the congloms that it's time to write off past mistakes and start over. Meanwhile consumers are investing in next generation devices that are not broadcast compatible.
