NOT EXACTLY.

Apple TV will be able to store and access your iTunes library and play lists directly, as well as connecting with any other computer with iTunes that is within "network range." The major difference is the user interface, which is optimized for the TV display and the Apple remote.

It is less clear whether you will be able to access the iTunes music store and buy music via Apple TV. You can access the movie trailers at the iTunes store, and my guess is that you will be able to buy both TV shows and music via Apple TV.
