I was championing informed decisions, rather than superficial decalarations of one scheme being all great or all bad. Gratuitous objections, just like gratuitous hype, are always wrong. Among the clueless, ATM was ridiculously hyped up in the early days, and then equally ridiculously demonized after that. And all because those whose business it was to learn the real issues could not bring themselves to do so. Does that sound familiar? There are no perfect answers to anything in (real) engineering.
