Flying off the shelves?

Show me the sales figures Bert. Your anecdotal evidence from one or two stores hardly qualifies as flying off the shelves.

Nintendo Wii's are flying off the shelves. Bought two yesterday after trying to track them down for days. There was a line with ten people in it in front of Circuit City Sunday morning at 7am. They had four, so my daughter drove 40 miles to Ocala to look there. The Circuit City there also had a line. So she went to the Best Buy in Ocala. There was a line of about 10 people there, one of whom had spent the night and three others that came at about 3am. Fortunately they got 35 units, so we got one for the house and she bought one for her boyfriend. THAT is flying off the shelves Bert.

Here in Gainesville Sears and Best Buy do not even stock ATSC STBs, and Circuit City only carries the Samsung, which is currently in stock - it is out of stock in Ocala and Orange Park (near Jacksonville).

Speaking of Technology years, when is CBS going to wake up and realize that 1080i is NOT a good format for sports? We were watching the AFC Chanmionship game last night and the compression artifacts were horrible. They would go in for a tight shot on a player who would then swing their arm, leaving a trail of macroblocks behind. I noted at least 10 or 15 major problems in the last quarter alone. And when they covered the post game celebration, complete with blue and white confetti, the poor encoder just gave up - I guess its a cheap way to multiply the confetti effect, without have to clean up the mess...
