The need to move VOD to IP was to efficiently truck the assets from the
central VOD farms on their internet network. Capacity on the RF side had
nothing to do with it. The video asset it trucked from the VOD farm (where
the assets are stored) to the pumps sites, then to the QAM modulators. At
the QAM mod, the IP is stripped from the MPEG and looks like another video
QAM carrier. The only "VOD" content that is IP to the STB is anything under
the StreamPix menu.
