I'm not sure why this was funny but you took the Pandola article seriously.

How can there be "too much ala carte?"

Maybe at "The Restaurant at the End Of the Universe," where everything is on
the searchable "iPad menu." My apologies to Douglas Adams, who really was funny!

There is a reality here that is not going to change: let's call it the "time
value of content," which has much in common with the time value of money.

The MVPD bundles survive because they offer access to enough CURRENT content to
justify the ever escalating price. The TV business has always prospered when
they can offer content that appeals to a large LIVE audience like the SuperBowl
or the Olympics. Funny that Comcast now owns the U.S. rights to the Olympics,
yet is using these rights to make their bundles more attractive ( and the
bundles of every other MVPD too.

Which raises another interesting point. Who will ConWarner compete with?

1. DBS Systems that need a separate ISP to deliver OTT services.

2. Verizon and AT&T, who only offer TV in a limited number of markets, and
clunky DSL broadband that is barely adequate for decent OTT service.

They will not compete with the MVPDs that serve the OTHER 70% of U.S. Markets.
So why kill the lucrative bundles?

Craig
