Your argument is pointless.
No, Craig. I am simply refuting an absurd comment you made, that retrans
consent creates more dollars. The congloms can get whatever they ask for,
because they have to all-important content. The retrans consent pretend game is
not required for this. The money can flow direct to the congloms, from each
distribution network.
The only option would be to kill broadcasting and sell the broadcast
networks directly to the MVPDs.
Another absurd comment. Broadcast networks, assuming you mean station groups
and not the congloms, can exist without having to funnel most of the money they
get to the congloms. It's very simple arithmetic. If you get less income than
did with retrans consent, but you get to keep *all* of it, you might just end
up with the same net revenues.
This is not a pretend game.
Really, Craig? So, our local CBS9 affiliate is producing all those great CBS
shows I like to watch?
Makes no sense. The congloms are better off co-locating with the
MVPDs. Broadcasters would be an unnecessary middleman,
Do the congloms now deal with CDNs? Yes. Will increasing online viewership
create a need for more CDNs? Yes. The MVPD model is declining, so at best, what
you claim is that the cable networks now morphed into ISPs will want to handle
all the CDN role themselves, inhouse. Maybe yes, maybe no.
The premium movie channels can offer the Internet option because
they were never part of "the bundle." ESPN cannot, as it is the
glue holding the MVPD bundles together
Too bad, Craig. Reciting repetitive mantra does not convince. ESPN already
broke out of the walled garden bundles, and they have already said that going
direct to consumer without other bundled channels might also be coming. Do

Things are changing faster than you think. Need to keep up.
