This certainly is not surprising. The cable industry made the investments in
their infrastructure and have a clear competitive advantage over DSL and
satellite broadband. But the article says nothing about the fact that the
telcos made huge investments in cellular voice/data, and most U.S. homes have
fixed broadband and multi person cellular contracts.
The article suggests that fixed wireless broadband may provide some competition
in the future, but seems skeptical.
I’m not. I expect that there will be significant competition for fixed
broadband within five years, and that those cellular contracts will expand to
include fixed wireless...
