I understand why you have set the PSIP values to display 23-1 and 23-2.
What happens when you have to give Channel 23 back to the FCC at the end =
of
the transition? Will you still call "RF Channel 55" Ch 23?

Ralph,

We are a digital broadcaster, and with the several examples of consumer =
STBs=20
we have, to a unit each one requires a complete channel scan as the =
ONLY=20
way to enter a digital station. Some of the early ones will even wipe =
out=20
any previously discovered stations if they happen to be off air at the =
time.=20
Not very conducive to those who have to use an antenna rotor to tune in=20
different stations. However, an early generation flaw in the unit's=20
software, I grant.

Telling our digital viewers we are on UHF channel 55 is meaningless to =
them=20
since all the consumer will ever see is 23-1 and 23-2 as a channel =
number.=20
They will never see the number 55 anywhere, they cannot enter the number =
55=20
(at least on the Samsung, Zenith, and Sony examples we have here) so why =

advertise "Digital 55"?

Cheers,

John Shutt
