I think you're missing something on the way to making a point. Broadcasters
tend to advertise their assets and what they're paid to advertise. In this
context, "assets" are things you can watch. In digital, you can't watch
ANYTHING on rf channel XX; however you can watch things on 23-1, 23-2, 23-0,
etc. It's not (at least until analog sunsets) "tune into channel 23 to
watch digitally", it's "tune into 23-1 and watch Frasier at 9:00 p.m."
There will be a one-time reason to advertise RF channels when analog
sunsets. It will probably be something like "Watch all the local and CBS
programming you've become accustomed to on channel 5 AND A WHOLE LOT MORE on
digital channel 32. Cable viewers: contact your cable company for the
availability of our expanded digital services."
Alas, that won't deal with everything, because by their very nature, the
cable people will lie to viewers about what is offered and what they offer,
and they will try to divert consumers interested in free services to
expensive cable ones, but that's just the nature of the beast; it's profits
into the future as people forget what they have ordered and what it costs.

You would also think that promoting a logical channel also allows things
like advertising a certain show will be on 21-2, making the point about
sub-channels.
